What LBP means and why it matters
LBP stands for Low Bisphenol. Bisphenols — mainly BPS and BPF — occur as residues in the manufacture of synthetic tannins and retanning agents derived from diphenyl sulphone. For decades they were an invisible by-product of the process. Today they are a parameter that is measured, reported and audited.
The shift did not come from regulation, it came from the brands. Automotive OEMs, performance footwear labels and European fashion houses began adding bisphenol limits to their restricted substances lists and requesting batch-level analysis. A tannery that cannot document the bisphenol content of its leather is out of those supply chains, regardless of article quality.
Silvateam's answer was to reformulate. The LBP line is not a single product: it is a full range — extracts, replacement syntans, auxiliary syntans and resins — developed to bring BPS and BPF down from thousands of ppm to tens, while holding the technical performance of the product it replaces. A conventional BLANCOTAN MSR declares BPS < 400 ppm; its LBP version declares BPS < 10 ppm. Same position in the formulation, two orders of magnitude less bisphenol.
