Tanning
Sodium Formate
Sodium formate is a salt derived from formic acid, soluble in water. Its main use is in the food industry as a preservative.
It is also used in tanning as an acid buffer for chrome tanning. It stabilizes the skin's collagen as an agent for mineral or vegetable tanning, helping to fix chrome salts and generating a low-pH effluent at the end of the stage. It mainly acts as a catalyzing and disinfecting agent.
In the textile industry it is used for dyeing fibers and for fabric dyeing and printing. It is also a base chemical for metal electroplating and, finally, is used as a de-icer in concrete — for example, at airports.
At JOHE we are suppliers of high-quality sodium formate for the demands of the market.
